Three Flavors of Halo 3 for Gamers
According to a top specialty game retailer, Halo 3 packaging will be offered in three flavors: regular, collector’s and Legendary–the latter of which comes with a Spartan helmet…
GameStop’s website (along with the fully-merged EB Games) lists the regular packaging of Halo 3 at the expected $59.99. Those who want to step up can order the $69.99 collector’s edition, which may include some behind-the-scenes extras and fancier packaging, although the contents have yet to be officially announced.
The most hardcore Halo fans have the option of buying the $99.99 "extremely limited" Legendary pack. GameStop states that this top-end offering includes the game, a Halo Spartan Mjolnir Mark VI helmet replica and three bonus discs. The discs include a behind-the-scenes look at Halo 3 with developer Bungie Studios, a hi-res collection of cinematics from Halo 1 and 2 with director commentary, community-created content from Red vs. Blue, This Spartan Life and tiles and a theme. In addition, Legendary packs "will be serialized for added individuality and collectability."
Pre-orders for Halo 3 have already begun at GameStop and EB Games outlets, with the regular, collector’s and Legendary editions’ required pre-order payments pegged at $5, $10 and $25, respectively. An official release date has yet to be announed, although the retailer lists November 1, 2007 as the tentative release date.
"Collector’s edition" offerings for games are increasing in the West, with recent titles such as Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, Perfect Dark Zero, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and Gears of War all adopting special packaging options to appeal to more avid fans.
