Three Resident Evils Confirmed for Wii

Sequel to Umbrella Chronicles, as well as Resident Evil Zero and the GameCube remake of the original Resident Evil confirmed.

Capcom appears to be trying to compensate for the lack of Resident Evil 5 on the Wii.

On Thursday, the company confirmed three Resident Evil games will be coming to the Wii: Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles, GameCube's Resident Evil Zero and the GameCube remake of the original Resident Evil.

Darkside Chronicles is the sequel to the on-rails shooter, Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles, which released in 2007. The game is based on the revered Resident Evil 2 and stars the characters Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield. It will also implement  "a more in-depth co-op experience," according to Capcom Entertainment marketing VP Mona Hamilton. The Wii-exclusive game is slated for release this Winter in North America.

As part of what Capcom called its new Resident Evil "Classics" line, the publisher also said it will be releasing GameCube versions of Resident Evil and Resident Evil Zero on Wii, exclusively. The games will retail for $29, and be retrofitted for Wii Remote compatibility. The games are due sometime this year.

There may be more games coming to the Resident Evil "Classics" lineup. Capcom stated, "More information on Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles and the Resident Evil 'Classics' line will be revealed in the coming months."
