Topware, Southpeak Disagree Over Two Worlds II Delay

Studio claims publisherís suggestion that the game isnít finished is "incorrect"; blames crowded holiday for RPG's delay.

Yesterday publisher SouthPeak Interactive delayed the US release of Two Worlds II until January, saying it wanted the game to be "absolutely flawless" when it launches, but the suggestion that it’s in an unfinished state hasn’t gone down well with co-developer TopWare Interactive.

The studio told GameSpot the assertion that the game isn’t finished is "factually incorrect"; and that the decision to delay the title was actually made to avoid an "exceptionally crowded" 2010 holiday season for RPGs.

"Truth be told, fans only have so much time to spend playing these content-rich games, and there were concerns our title could potentially be lost in the fanfare," TopWare MD James Seaman said. "Our publishing partner SouthPeak, to their credit, has acknowledged this fact and made an adjustment, postponing their launch of Two Worlds II into early 2011."

Two Worlds II’s European publisher Zuxxez still intends to release the game in a number of territories on October 21, and Seaman said both this year’s and next year's launches will feature the same content.
