Trevor Williams Leaves Codemasters

Swordfish Studios founder becomes publisher's second high-profile departure in a week.

Trevor Williams, head of Codemasters' Birmingham studio, has confirmed to Develop his departure from the firm.

Coming less than a week after the announcement that Gavin Raeburn, executive producer of games including Dirt and Race Driver: Grid, was also leaving, Williams' exit is said to be amicable. He hopes to pursue new opportunities in the game industry, and leaves exactly one year after Swordfish, a studio that rose from the ashes of Rage Studios in 2002, was bought by Codemasters from Activision.

Now operating under name Codemasters Birmingham, its games include PS2 title Cold Winter and the recent 50 Cent collaboration, 50 Cent: Blood On The Sand. Williams has led the studio throughout the last year, reporting to Codemasters VP Gavin Cheshire.

"Since joining Codemasters in late 2008 following the acquisition of Swordfish Studios, it's been a pleasure to have Trevor on the senior studios team and his contribution has been of great benefit to our Southam, Birmingham and Malaysian studios," said Cheshire. "We wish him the very best in his future projects."
