Microsoft has said that over two million users logged in to Facebook via Xbox 360 in the service’s first week of availability.

With around ten per cent of Xbox Live’s 20 million user base accessing Facebook, the service may be the most heavily adopted of the new features introduced with the most recent Xbox 360 system update.

Microsoft spokesman David Dennis also told CNET that half a million Last.fm accounts were created via Xbox 360 in the first 24 hours of availability, and that Xbox Live users had streamed 120 million minutes of music in the first week.

Additionally, 1.7 million Xbox Live users accessed Zune marketplace - formerly Xbox Live marketplace – in order to watch a video during the same seven day period.

Dennis didn’t directly address how many Xbox Live members had used the new Twitter feature, only noting that there had been "tweets from nearly every market where we have Xbox Live".

Yeah, I logged in—once. I don't see myself doing so ever again and wouldn't have even logged in once if I knew I'd get counted up and used in one of Microsoft's dopey 'big numbers' press releases.

I suspect the actual daily usage numbers are much, much lower.

I participated in the beta for this and have been using it for a few weeks. As it is convenient to access facebook on my 360 since I'm on that far more than I'm on my PC but it is a stripped-down version and the 360's lame-ass text limiter kills any comment you want to make that is very long. If you're an avid facebook user (I'm not) the 360 version sucks. As a quick way to update your status or make a few comments it's fine, anything more I'd stay away. Some of the xbox specific features (linking your live friends to facebook/facebook friends to live) and what they promise down the line for example taking screenshots of games to post on facebook are cool though.

Also, if anyone is having an issue with not wanting to use their controller you can use almost any USB/wireless keyboard on the 360 plug-n-play. You can even use it to navigate the dashboard.

Here the PS3 is better because you can use bluetooth keyboard and mouse a actual web browser, quick start up and built-in Wi-Fi. I don't know MS don't release a browser something better the IE8. Localised storage for music, movie and Images etc.

Most Importantly a cheaper Wi-Fi dongle I'm not gonna pay £60, I use my PC wireless connection bridged to go on live. The funny thing I bought a usb wireless stick for £7 from amazon the other day which is windows 7 compatible

Microsoft is making a killing ripping off customers. Especially since 360 OS is based on modified version of Windows 2000....

I think the figures we really want to see are the amount of people using this in 6 months time, there is naturally going to be a lot of people using it to begin with but once the novelty wears off that's the real indicator of success (see Home for example).

100% whole heartedly agree.

I am only speaking from my personal perspective and situation here, but it is only about a billion times easier for me to access facebook using a computer than to have to start up my 360, trail my ethernet cable across the room (i refuse to buy MS's rip off wi fi dongle) then type using the controller (i refuse to buy MS's shitty little keyboard attachment)

I'm not a fan of social networking sites like Facebook so didn't even bother trying this app on either system. 2 million sounds impressive, but I strongly suspect interest will quickly wane, just like with Playstation HOME.
I was pleasantly surprised by Last.FM though and have run that several times when I wanted some background music on (leaving the system on, playing music, to grab a bite to eat and then return to gaming).

Agreed, Facebook and especially Twitter really needs a keyboard to type messages and whatever, I imagine most people logged on to check out how their profile looked on the Xbox and then went back to their PC's.

You can just plug a usb keyboard into the 360 you know.

Out of all the new stuff added to xlive i found ZUNE worked really and i use Last.fm more than i thought i would as it happens.
