Ubisoft said this morning that the key takeaway from its E3 press conference is that it is no longer just a games company.

"Ubisoft is going from a simple developer and publisher company to a full 360-degrees content provider," said CEO Yves Guillemot, according to Gamasutra.

Specifically, Guillemot was talking about Ubisoft’s expansion into the film special effects industry following its acquisition of Hybride Technologies, the firm behind Sin City's and 300's unique visuals.

The company is developing "over 100 shots" for James Cameron movie Avater. "We are for the first time ever bridging our visual effects and game development expertise," said Guillemot.

Ubisoft also announced that it has acquired the rights to make a game based on Steven Spielberg’s upcoming Tintin movie, which is being produced by Peter Jackson.
