Ubisoft has today announced delays to a number of major titles.
Splinter Cell Conviction and Red Steel 2, which were previously scheduled for release during the third quarter of the publisher’s fiscal year, will now be released in the fourth quarter, which runs from January 1 to March 31, 2010.
Meanwhile, Ghost Recon 4 and I am Alive have been pushed back from the fourth fiscal quarter to fiscal 2010-11, which commences on April 1, 2010.
“We are disappointed that we have to postpone the release of several major games but we consider that this choice is the best one in the long term interests of Ubisoft,” said the publisher’s CEO, Yves Guillemot.
To be honest any money saved coming up to Christmas is welcome to me as too many games that I want to be getting so although a bit gutted Red Steel 2 is pushed back will mean I have Christmas money to buy it!!
I think they've cottoned on to the fact that Christmas 09 is gonna blow in terms of retail spending.
I was really looking forward to playing Red Steel 2 this year. So I'm a bit gutted at this news. Unless they're delaying because they need more time to make the swordfighting as good as Wii Sports Resort? In whcih case... take your time, take your time.
That blows, I was hoping that with bioshock 2 being pushed, I'll play splinter cell over the holidays and then bioshock in the New Year. Now they got stacked in the New Year...
I agree. First quarter '09 is starting to look like Holiday of '08. Mass Effect 2, Bioshock 2, Splinter Cell, and that's just to name the bigger titles.
Don't forget God of War III! You'll have late 2009 to play uncharted 2 through, so no need to panic.
I'll have to cram in God of War III, too? Damn. You're right about Uncharted, I've had that pre-ordered since before E3. ;-)
That sucks!!! Red Steel 2 is gonna miss the holiday season. That game was gonna make a killing.
Damn.
