Ubisoft’s recently introduced digital rights management solution, the Online Services Network, has reportedly been circumvented by hackers.
A hack for the unpopular DRM platform - which ships with Ubisoft’s PC titles and requires users to maintain a permanent connection to the internet to play - is now available on peer-to-peer file-sharing networks, reports CNet.
The hack is said to remove the DRM entirely. Users are required to download and install a modified version of the game's executable file to their computers, which is used alongside a crack that can be applied to any retail version of a game.
The group of hackers responsible claim that their methods have been safeguarded against reverse-engineering in order to protect them from competing hackers and Ubisoft.
