Ubisoft's I Am Alive Changes Studios

Disaster-themed game moves from Darkworks to internal Ubisoft Shanghai.

French publisher Ubisoft has moved development of the upcoming adventure game I Am Alive from independent Paris developer Darkworks to internal studio Ubisoft Shanghai.

A statement from Ubisoft on Friday reads, "In order to respect the new launch date for this ambitious title, and Darkworks having other obligations, we have mutually decided to complete development of I Am Alive at Ubisoft Shanghai, as the two studios have collaborated on aspects of the title over the past year."

Ubisoft Shanghai most recently developed Tom Clancy's EndWar, and is also behind games in the Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon series.

I Am Alive is due in Ubisoft's current fiscal year, ending March 2010, and is one of three new brands coming from the company this year.

Ubisoft added, "The team at Darkworks has respected its contractual obligations on the project and will be a part of the success of the game when it launches."
