Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3 announced

At a Comic-Con preview event last night Capcom announced a revision of Marvel Vs Capcom 3 which adds 12 new characters and a host of balance changes to the existing cast. Bêtes noires Dark Phoenix, Wolverine and the X-Factor mechanic have been toned down, and a glitch affecting combo damage scaling has been removed. While only four new characters - Ghost Rider, Strider Hiryu, Hawkeye and Firebrand - were announced, the remaining eight were reportedly outed by listings quickly removed from Capcom's own website. On the Capcom side, the new fighters are Vergil, Frank West, Phoenix Wright and Nemesis; the new Marvel characters are Dr Strange, Nova, Rocket Raccoon and Iron Fist. Now sporting a roster of 50 characters, Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3 will be released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on November 15.

I'm not even going to look at the Facebook group. "No Megaman? WHORRRRRRRDHFKGJTHDGDHHFH"

Keen to see what this retails for, in the supermarkets at least. People do love to whine about these iterative releases but pro rata it may well end up better value for money (pro rata) than individual DLC characters, a la Mortal Kombat. Plus spectator mode and 1000 new achievement points? If it's sub £20 I'll probably pick it up early doors.

Hehehe this is exactly why i wait a year or two to see whether or not developers decide to do the "improved version" thing or goty edition or special edition. They have become so predictable. Although capcom have always been predictable.

Capcom has been flushing a lot of goodwill down the toilet as of late - the most serious offense being probably the imposed DRM limitations of Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition on PC - 'you need to sign onto PSN in order to play' Final Fight Double Impact, and 3DS RE Mercenaries' 'no secondhand resale value' policy.

I think now is not the best time for Japanese devs to start flushing goodwill down the toilet with their western customers - Capcom can consider itself lucky it's still pretty much a major developer with a lot of people still having interest in its products (mostly down to the Marvel resurgence in cinemas/movies). They might want to think about giving people some value for money out of their previous 'investment' and not just go down the route of doling out as many versions of a fighting game as possible. Even back during the '90s, that stuff was not fashionable and mainstream western audiences stopped buying annual Street Fighter updates after Super pretty much.
