Uncharted 2: Among Thieves picked up three gongs in the E3 2009 Game Critics Awards, including the Best Of Show honour.

The PS3 exclusive title was also voted Best Console Game and Best Action/Adventure Game.

The only other title to receive multiple awards was Scribblenauts for DS, which was named Best Original Game and Best Handheld Game.

Titles needed to be available in playable form at the show in order to be eligible for consideration, and the results were determined by votes cast by the editors of 29 major North American media outlets.

Looking at E3 Game Critics Awards winners from the past 11 years, analysts at Broadpoint AmTech recently found that Best Of awards are generally a good indicator of strong future sales. The majority of award winners in the Best Console Game or Best Of Show categories went on to sell over a million units at US retail, they said.

dreamhunk's picture

oh poor baby everyone is up in arms because I said the game is junk lol, people are too funny. Any I out to go enjoy my day.

michael_sylvain's picture

That's... beautiful.

(Edit - I mean the picture, of course, not the subsequent reply)

michael_sylvain's picture

Dreamhunk, I'm confused! Why all the fuss?

Do you think that if console gaming goes downhill and the business model fails then it will mean that PC gaming does better? Because that's just not true: what's bad for the game industry is bad for PC gaming, too.

Or do you think PC gaming is already in a Golden Age? In which case, why does the popularity of console games matter to you, because that doesn't make sense. Surely if PC gaming is so great and makes so much money (like you so often say) then consoles are an irrelevance you can ignore?

thevulture's picture

Dreamhunk. Please, don`t take this the wrong way, BUT:

WE GET IT!-you prefer PC gaming to console gaming. As i`m sure many others do as well.

Meanwhile on the flip side? A lot of folks prefer the console aspects.

The point is: We live in a world where you have the freedom to decide what medium is best for you. You pays your money and makes your choice.

You made your feelings quite clear in your inital post`s. So jobs done, nothing to see here etc.

To keep banging the same old drum? Just gets a little tiresome.

I`m sure there are countless OTHER topics or burning issues that you could be bringing to the table.

Think it`s time to let the PC vs Console debate go.

As a GAMER since the early 80`s.....I find the VS 'Debates' got VERY stale, VERY quickly. This all started back in the PC VS AMIGA VS Console days.

Countless generations after and people STILL bring it up?.

WHY?

Ports go both ways PC-Console, Console to PC.

That`s the way developers make money.

From my humble view point? i`m failing to see how repeated PC vs Console comments, let alone countless links are going to bring anything new.

You have your views, others have theirs.

Agree to disagree and lets get some fresh topics going here.

I paid $75 dollars for Space Quest 6 when it was released, & I didn't get shit with it.

dreamhunk's picture

I think edge gobal game Industry networks should change it's name to Edge gobal console hardware fanboy Industry networks.

You know what maybe gaming is really dead!!!!! it's seems to me that must gaming forums about hardware, microsft and sony these days not games!!!

Jack_'s picture

You're a terrible troll. Learn to be subtle, this just reeks of attention-whoring.

savagehenry's picture

Where's Jean Luc when you need him ?

I tried, what can I say? Is this some weird masochistic thing for you? Sorry you feel that way dreamhunk, I have to say though, you can't blame Edge, they're just keeping us informed. You also can't hold Edge responsible for the standard of its readership!

We long to be in the position (in an ideal world) where we are holding court and everyone is nodding their heads in agreement, sadly though that Ideal world doesn't exist! The human condition is a funny business!! (my own weirdness is testament to that)

You have some interesting idea's and strong opinion's and that is admirable. I don't wish to sounds condescending, post's like this don't do you any favours. Sadly throwing your toys from the pram, isn't always the best ways to get what you want.

dreamhunk's picture

frankly i'm glade the world can see this and read this thread it says alot lol I'm done!

frankly neither of yyou are even here about games or debates. Your pretty much here to promote your hardware company. So who do you work for microsft or sony!

Bleak Corner's picture

You keep saying you're done and then you reply to someone. Go away. Leave the internet. Btw... I might be wrong but wasn't it you dismissing the NPD numbers as untrustworthy - yet now you use them to back up your still incorrect statement? I might got that one wrong though as I usually skim your replies as the amount of nonsense you write is slightly too extensive. And the article does say the first Uncharted sold 2.6 million including the bundled versions... I don't think that's exactly a bad thing.

savagehenry's picture

Please enlighten me as to what you think we're advertising!! I'd be very interested to know!!

If that's what you think fair enough! Who am I to try and change your perspective! No viral marketers here, just serious gamers!

I spend my days working in higher education as a humble audio visual technician. Looking after lecture theatres, teaching equipment and supporting some of the leading academics or our time.

Outside that, I spend as much time as I can either playing or reading about games. It's maybe sad or weird, it's even been said to have been tragic waste by some, but gaming has been my passion, bordering obsession for a sizable number of years now. Not that I should feel I have to justify myself to you nor anybody else.

If I'm an selling anything here it's intelligent, healthy and constructive conversation, which I was trying to engage you in earlier. Never mind, I gave it my best shot!

Thanks for your time anyway, if was interesting if nothing else.

NickgamertagO1's picture

I have to admit, this game looks really good (graphics anyway). I can't speak too much on the gameplay as I've never played the 1st game, but the graphics look insane.

michael_sylvain's picture

I'd really recommend the first game. Yes, it has its problems (difficulty spikes, baddies being bullet sponges, and a little too much emphasis on fighting towards the end) but they're outweighed some pretty fine strengths. The first game does lots of things well, not least the fantastic matinee B movie feel. So when I played it (last new year) I was genuinely impressed by the way it looked, played and felt. Add to that how it shames Tomb Raider and Indiana Jones by doing exploration and dumb action in such a more fun and fluid way. I know not everyone agrees, but it's cheap enough now to pick up and try even if you don't end up liking it. It's not the greatest game ever or anything, but it's certainly one of the better ones of late.

So yeah, I was looking forward to the sequel before seeing the superb E3 footage.

savagehenry's picture

I whole heartedly concur!!!

Uncharted 2 looks awesome! E3 footage got me a bit over excited to tell the truth, but I've calm down now..

Have either of you guys access to the Beta ?

I haven't got into the beta thread yet? Got a bit bogged down :P On my way over there now :P

NickgamertagO1's picture

I don't have a PS3. But I keep seeing games I'm interested in (flower, uncharted 2, that other PSN music/shooter game I can't think of, the new game from the ICO team I can't think of the name) on the PS3. It looks like one day I may end up investing in a PS3, but with the imminent price cut looming on the horizon I'll wait.

savagehenry's picture

"Last Guardian" was the Fumito Ueda / Team ICO adventure.

I think that musical Game you're talking about is called "Riff: Everyday Shooter"

NickgamertagO1's picture

Thank you, those were the games I was thinking of.

michael_sylvain's picture

I don't have access to the Beta, but I can't wait to play the game. It looks stunning, is based on a solid first instalment, and well: (a) Naughty Dog consistently deliver well-worked enjoyable games, and (b) it's so rewarding to play a game that remembers how fun gaming can be just for the sake of it. Can't overstate how refreshing Uncharted was even though it isn't original, simply for how well it overachieves its sources.

dreamhunk's picture

Oh by the way the best E3 game is just opinion nothing more and nothing. My point view I am not going waste my money on this game. At the end of the day that is all this game is. Must game devs on consoles are pretty much lazy these days. With the coming of this gen games, must games have been garbage. it's very good reason people are not buying them these days.

good luck with the console decliane too!!!!

Jack_'s picture

"Oh by the way the best E3 game is just opinion nothing more and nothing."

Damn. If only we'd figured that out sooner.

ArronC07's picture

http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2006/jun/02/comment.charliebrook...

"There's no point debating anything online. You might as well hurl shoes in the air to knock clouds from the sky. The internet's perfect for all manner of things, but productive discussion ain't one of them. It provides scant room for debate and infinite opportunities for fruitless point-scoring: the heady combination of perceived anonymity, gestated responses, random heckling and a notional "live audience" quickly conspire to create a "perfect storm" of perpetual bickering.

Stumble in, take umbrage with someone, trade a few blows, and within about two or three exchanges, the subject itself goes out the window. Suddenly you're simply arguing about arguing. Eventually, one side gets bored, comes to its senses, or dies, and the row fizzles out: just another needless belch in the swirling online guffstorm."

The full article is a good read and is so true.

ArronC07's picture

If you can get hold of Dead Set do so, its a zombie movie written by Brooker and its excellent.

michael_sylvain's picture

It'd be nice if we inhabited a forum where more people were inspired by Charlie Brooker rather than being so damningly summed up by him, wouldn't it?

He's too bloody talented by half at whatever he writes about, though. Yes, that is the sound of Brooker-inspired talent envy...

NickgamertagO1's picture

You know Arron, that eerily sounds like the way fights with my wife and me go.

I agree though, and we've all been guilty of some of the things you mention. Until this non-stop time-sucking PC vs. console absolute waste-of-time debate ends, my time in these forums will probably end. There are other things as you mentioned that cause problems or make productive discussions more difficult, but we all usually can get around those. Lately though, a certain topic has killed all sense of constructive dialogue.

savagehenry's picture

Charlie Brooker is a Dude!! (I'm sure he'd hate being called that, though) I remember this article...

Who's stumbled in today.... ?

Opinions are like arseholes - everyone has one. And most of them stink.

nexon7's picture

If solidstrife does not like a game it is his choice, nobody can question it. He even have his own valid reasons, like getting stuck. If we have problem with some game we can dowbright complain about it.
Though Dear dreamhunk, generally fails to give any reason why PC games are great.
PC games are actually great as they are more advanced in Graphics and Gameplay and mainly technologically. But many console games are also so much fun to play(even on consoles) that there is no point in saying consoles aor console games are bad. After all we ant entertainment and XBox360 has definetly provided it(PS3 also has many games, but they generally suck in comparison to XBox360 version, devs not taking advantage of PS3, also PS3 is very harder to develop for). PC is easier to develop for and cheaper as dreamhunk said, BUT it is no more profitable then consoles. Devs wants sales and Consoles have 8 times more sells. Nobody is such a fool to overlook that. Business is profit.
Though I agree Consoles are technically inferior thanm PC(Yes, which console has 8 GB RAM, and will not have for long time till it also hosts a 64 bit CPU, and 64 bit CPU and 8 GB RAM is very good fro games with massive deatail like ARMA2, Crysis, GTA4, Rage though developers are often pushed to cut corners due to meagre 512 mb of Ram on PS3 and XBox 360, compare with 4 GB on an average PC)
That is why ARMA, Battlefield 2, Crysis have amazing Draw Distance on PC, whereas Unreal Engine games on Console look heavily fogged at some feet. You can really look above 8 Km in Far Cry on Pc but not on Console Version. And if you have not really seen the Draw Distance of ARMA or Battlefield 2 on PC you cannot appreciate the difference. It looks super cool. And both are very old games on PC and later came to consoles and then also somewhat cut.
Console also lake Mouse(The great pointing device for fast FPS and RTS).
Gears of war is a slow tactical shooter. UT3 is a fast FPS and it plays lot well on PC. Then there is the amazing MOD support of Unreal Tournament 2004, Unreal Tournament 3, Quake 3 on PC, which really makes these titles lot of worth and entertainment value.
I understand that dreamhunk has english as second language so he takes lot of time to type long posts, so I give him benefit of doubt. Though it would have been a lot better if Mr. dreamhunk points the reasons also for superiority of PC games. In some ways both consoles and PC are superior and inferior to each other.
Solidstrife though apparantely played Uncharted 2 and didnot like it. There is nothing wrong or new in it. I myself didnot like Splinter Cell though many others like it.
you cannot expect that everybody will like some game because that game was liked by majority and it was given loads of awards.

dreamhunk's picture

By the way don't give that 8 times junk, I don't see console gaming industry making 68 billion, sorry consoles don't make as much as pc gaming does but nice try.

Jack_'s picture

I didn't read all of this, but if you're making posts longer than he is, you're just playing into his hands.

dreamhunk's picture

It's like this, everyone in their back of their minds know I'm speaking the truth.

NickgamertagO1's picture

Sorry dream, that's not the case. I'm not going to claim I'm smarter than you or you’re stupid or anything like that. But I think the majority of people on this site don't take you seriously at all. It's not the broken sentences or poor spelling, but the actual content of your posts and how you go about presenting your arguments and "facts" and "bringing it" with YouTube videos and links to opinion pieces no one ever checks. You never answer questions directly or give your own opinions, you just say PCs are better and provide more links. You're actually one of the reasons I've stopped coming to this site, every thread turns into a dream vs. whoever else hasn't learned to just ignore you yet contest that goes on forever and you just repeat the exact same crap you always say and it's gotten so old.

You honestly believe people in the back of their minds think you're right or speaking the truth? I'm sorry friend, but you couldn't be more off. And I apologize if it appears as though I'm attacking you, I've just grown tired of hearing you say the same crap everyday and arguing the same pointless argument that no one really WANTS to be involved in. You're Kim (long time EDGE posters know what/who I'm talking about) for PCs but somehow worse and the sooner everyone realizes that the better.

And I'm willing to bet you'll counter my post with links as to why PCs are actually better or why consoles are dying and MS and Sony are losing trillions everyday or some nonsense and won't even respond to what I said. And I'm willing to bet I'll just ignore the links like I always do.

dreamhunk's picture

Oh one more thing it's funny that console gamer like to ditch out untruthful facts, they like to ditch out alot of nonsence. However when they get into a real debate they can't really handle it, they just can't take the hit.

there is a reason pc gaming has been the must popular gaming machine in the world maybe you really need to look for your self.

http://blog.nielsen.com/nielsenwire/nielsen-news/world-of-warcraft-plays...

oh wait you don't have any facts to back up your aruments.

sorry the world does not play on consoles they play on the pc.

NickgamertagO1's picture

Lol, you're too predictable.

savagehenry's picture

Yes, World of Warcraft is very popular but I don't really get what those tables actually means, as I don't see PC on the "Topline Console Usage" chart. Would you mind explaining it's context a little? I presume that PC gaming is "other" right?

As we've proved already dreamhunk.. not everyone is an out and out fan of PC games. Lots of people own consoles because there easy to get on with slap in a disk and play. The games are abundant. I'd actually like to hear about what PC games you've enjoyed and why, obviously in the appropriate place. I like PC gaming too, I've spent thousands on my rig and have a host of games that we can discuss though the message service if you prefer. Having said that, You don't have to keep justifying your position, we get it!

PC gaming is very sophisticated experience you are right, but not all can afford, nor want the hassle of it and you have to respect their opinions. You have to admit putting together a top of the line machine is huge ball-ache! There is a lot of good kit out there to make you PC gaming experience the best it can be, but you have to wade through an awful lot of sh!t to find it.

I wouldn't say that amount of hours people play on World of Warcraft isn't indicative of the entire PC gaming fraternity. Nor can it be used as comparison because consoles have MMORPGS too. There are also numerous examples of games that are extremely successful on console. I don't think I need to list them, you get the idea.

dreamhunk's picture

you can get a pc that is $300 and is way more powerful than any consle. You can get $500 pc and play crysis. there alot of missleading information out there. the fact is the pc is the greatest gaming platform in the world. The world does not play on consoles, they play on the pc. Do you think some of those thrid world countries can afford a console, no way.

Last time i checked I don't see the media, some game devs and console fanboys respecting pc gamers. Take a good look at the media they have really good habit about giving misleading for mattion. You really think microsft cares about pc gaming, how about gamestop. The truth speaks for it self. it's hard words bout it's the truth.

Jack_'s picture

Can you post a link of this $500 Crysis-able PC? I was about to spend $800 for this:

http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=7...

And that doesn't even include a monitor, speakers, keyboard, mouse, or an operating system.

dreamhunk's picture

you can buy crysis playable pc for $500 with montior inclued you need to go and shop around

Jack_'s picture

Not a single link? I'm disappointed.

dreamhunk's picture

I don't need to give any more links, frankly I have enough on this thread. At this point and time I only see you as just wasting my time.

Indrema's picture

I'm also getting tired, like Nick, but I have to ask - Are you on anger autopilot?

You were just asked by a potential PC gamer about to buy an $800 dollar PC; who for some reason or another listened to your rhetoric for half a second long enough and thought that you had something intelligent to say.

You were asked where you can purchase this, apparently non-existent, console-killer so it could be purchased & you could look smart for once, but no....!! He's an idiot too. He's a PC gamer!!

This is why PC gaming can never beat consoles, because PC gamers cannibalize each other.

dreamhunk's picture

you know what your a smart guy i think you can go figure things out, I have psoted enough hard facts on edge. To me what i am seeing here is nothing more than console fanboys at work with out any real deabte.

all this is nothing more than trash talk, what you can't handle my views the don't read it. oh wait you only like to read thing you like to hear. Even if they are lies I get it.

Jack_'s picture

Please stop wasting your time on Edge. Wouldn't you rather be playing a pc game right now?

dreamhunk's picture

what did i say something you don't like lol, this is a joke, the whole gaming media is a joke! I thought posts were for people views on articles I guess not huh. You only like to read what you want to read. lol what a joke

this not media, it's a fanboy club house.

Jack_'s picture

Yes, people's views on... Uncharted 2.

dreamhunk's picture

how about this if you don't like what I have to say don't read it!!!!!! yea the center of the world are console gamers, dreamhunk said my game was trash so I'm going cry and wine about it.Sorry i don't sugar coat nothing for no one. There is buch babies on edge

Instead you ask why I don't like it ask!!!!!! If you don't like what I have to say then too bad that is life. How about this don't read what I have say and don't waste my time.

Jack_'s picture

You don't seem to value your time too much, since you're on here constantly yet you mention it in half your posts.
