US And European FFXIII Release Announced
Square Enix's RPG will launch on March 9 next year on both PS3 and 360.
Announced at the end of a video hosted on the game's official site, the date for the game's European and north American release was accompanied by the news that X-Factor winner Leona Lewis will be singing the game's theme tune.
With FFXIII due for release in Japan on PS3 only on December 17, the gap between regional releases is the shortest in the series' history.

I prefer Japanese games to be voiced in Japanese. It's harder to tell if they stink at acting. The UK version of Shenmue 2 was infinitely better than the Xbox version cause of that. I wish they left the Japanese in the first game.

Surely I can't be the only one feeling I'm in some dystopian society where all our entertainment is becoming homogenized by a Shinra-like entertainment conglomerate, into some sort of bland pulp.
Having said that, I'm not a big fan of Leona Lewis' music, but I do think the girl has a decent voice. Maybe with the right tune (paging Nobuo Uematsu!) it won't be so bad. Afterall, would it be any different to, say, Faye Wong (Eyes On Me) who is a big star in Japan? Just wouldn't sound as exotic on these shores, is all.
Fair point, she does have a good voice, i wouldnt buy one of her CDs (not enough warb warb dirty bass) but there is no reason she wont fit into an epic FF type score
Personally I prefer the English versions as they always end up losing something in translation and the Engrish lyrics are often hysterical. I also don't care that Leona Lewis is doing the vocals and think spamming square would be totally idiotic.

If I get my finances right I'll get a shiny new telly at the end of this month and then a PS3 for Christmas leaving me a few months to prepare for FFXIII. Awesome. Leona Lewis though, for fucks sake. Why can't we have the Japanese song on there. Am I the only one who prefers things to be original? I'd be happy to have the Japanese voice track too, not possible on 360 I doubt, but the Bluray would have space surely.
I always said I wanted to be sure I had a full HD set up for FF XIII. I've had my TV for a while now so I guess I am easily on target. I hear you on the theme tune thing. The Japanese one would have been better. I would also have preferred the original voice acting. The FF X theme was beautiful. Between this and White Knight Chronicles this is a great time for a RPGs on PS3 (not forgetting Demon's Souls of course).
Just got news of a £300 cheque from Aviva coming my way so the HDTV is within my grasp! Might even scrape in a PS3 when I get paid at end of month, I doubt I'd get much for my poor old PS2 in return these days though.
Its not that I prefer Japanese over English massively, I just like the option, unless the option is one of Simon Cowell's mass produced banshees in which case anything would be preferable, especially the original Japanese song! FFX's theme was indeed amazing. And it is a good time for PS3 RPG, thats why I favour it over the 360 currently (always to be honest).
Dude, if you can wait then hold out for Boxing Day (I am assuming you are in the UK). I got a 40" Sony Bravia 1080p in the sales last boxing day for £499 which is an amazing deal. I had to wake up early to get it but it was worth it. This was from Richer Sounds. It's a sweet TV which even now retails for over £700 a year later.
I had to listen to the theme again just now. 'Suteki da ne' man, it's just beautiful. I always prefer Japanese games in the original language. Yeah make sure you check out Demon's Souls when you get your rig. That game never ceases to amaze me. (*Very mild spoiler alert*) Last night one of the end level boss summoned another human player from their game to come and fight me. So my boss fight turned into HECTIC PvP combat. You should have heard my screams of triumph hit the roof. My neighbours must think I'm mad ha ha!! Yeah and White Knight looks kick ass too. It is ALL GOOD.
Richer Sounds has an LG 1080p 37" for £400 at the minute, not sure I can hold out until christmas, cable box already has HD output and Top Gear is in HD from tomorrow! Thanks for the advice though.
Demon Souls and Uncharted 2 are my probable initial games, and probably LBP as its so cheap these days (£15 at Amazon for example).
