Valve Software on Wednesday said it would be updating the zombie co-op shooter Left 4 Dead with a free spring update for both Xbox 360 and PC versions.
Valve announced the "Survival Pack" last week, but at the time did not provide details on the pricing. The update will add the new Survival game mode and two complete campaigns for the versus mode.
The developer has built a reputation of free post-release support for its PC games, adding new features and modes with the belief that such updates grow a game's community.
Left 4 Dead launched in 2008 to critical praise. A new retail version that includes the Survival Pack content will hit shelves in spring.
that's not very impressive when you stop and realize virtually no one was going to pay for it anyway. that probably has something to do with the fact that they failed to deliver the only thing players were asking for: at least one or two new campaigns.
they didn't which means it's time to say goodbye to left4dead until the sequel hits. PC owners, on the other hand, will get a bit more mileage.
If Criterion can do it with Burnout Paradise - kudos Criterion.
Then Valve sure as hell can - sweet news - looking forward to it.
Awesome news, Valve knows how it works. I can't think about anything more to say because in fact, I'm not surprised at all. These guys are far ahead of the rest and things like this confirm it day after day.
Holy cow! Did Valve push a free update past Microsoft? That would make me interested in resubscribing to Live. WTG Valve!

That was my shock at the news - mayhaps Gabe & team decided to foot the bill to push it through - if so, even greater kudos.
