Wanted Movie Gets Game Sequel

Bionic Commando devs GRIN will pick up the story where the film left off.

The Universal Pictures Digital Platforms Group announced Wednesday that a game based on the summer action blockbuster Wanted will be available later this year.

The game will continue the story of the film, according to the statement, following the ongoing tale of Wesley and his involvement with the Fraternity. It will be published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment for PC and consoles, and has been in development at GRIN since early 2007. GRIN’s previous work includes the PC versions of the two Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter games; the studio is also currently working on Bionic Commando for Capcom.

“Wanted is a striking property with gripping action, which presents strong gaming possibilities," said WBIE president Martin Tremblay. “Publishing the Wanted game is an excellent opportunity for Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment to team with Universal on a global property with terrific cross-platform potential.”

The game’s executive producer, Pete Wanat, added, “With the 'Wanted' video game, GRIN is creating entirely new gameplay mechanics and an experience that pulls no punches. Gamers and fans of the film alike will be blown away by the ability to curve bullets, pull off amazing combat sequences and literally conduct a symphony orchestra of action with the arsenal available to the most powerful assassins in the world.”

Released in the US on June 27th, the Wanted film has since grossed nearly $192 million worldwide according to Universal.
