Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has confirmed that Lego Rock Band is in development for Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and DS.

Due for release later this year, TT Games is developing the title in partnership with Harmonix, with Warner set to act as publisher.

Lego Rock Band combines two compelling properties and creates an experience that family members of all ages will enjoy playing together as a group,” said Tom Stone, managing director of TT Games. “Harmonix and MTV Games are the world experts in music gameplay, and we’re genuinely thrilled to bring the unique and humor-filled Lego experience to their Rock Band universe.”

Bob Picunko, senior vice president of Electronic Games for MTV Games, said: “Rock Band is a social game experience that crosses every generation and every genre of rock. Harmonix and MTV Games are big fans of the Lego game franchise and excited to work with TT Games to develop a new take on Rock Band that focuses on great music and Lego humour that’s fun for the whole family.”

I am actually looking forward to this one. My kids love the lego games and we have the last 3 that have been done on the 360. Plus they enjoy watching me play Guitar Hero/Rock Band but don't really have the skills yet to join in. This sounds like a good combination and will no doubt sells truckloads. I just hope they get the balance right for kids vs older players helping out so that everyone has fun.

Will The White Stripes 'Fell in Love with a Girl' be in it?

The only way I can see this as a viable release, is if this is the "Rock Band" brand that will have music aimed at more of a younger audience. I'd co-sign it even more, if that meant the OG Rock Band games' songs finally stop being censored.

I wonder if this means the charts will be lego blocks?

This is entirely pointless...Rock Band isn't a "universe". It's just a game. I don't see how the Lego version will be any different from the Harmonix version (except for the character models). I cannot express what a pap dea this is...

I wonder what the track list will be like. This is very intriguing and I would be willing to pick it up if the set list was good. Lego is a blast.

I think we're all asking if you can rip the songs into the main game :)
