The Writers Guild of America has announced the nominees for its 2011 Videogame Writing Award.

Not all games released last year are up for selection; games had to be released between December 1, 2009 and November 30, 2010. In addition games had to carry a specific writing credit and the criteria also require that writers are members, or have applied to be members, of the WGA.

A total of six games have been nominated: Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood; Fallout: New Vegas; God Of War III; Prince Of Persia: The Forgotten Sands; Singularity; and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II.

Winners will be announced at the 2011 Writers Guild Awards on Saturday February 5 at simultaneous ceremonies in Los Angeles and New York.

Last year Assassin’s Creed II, Modern Warfare 2, Uncharted 2, Wet and X-Men Origins: Wolverine were nominated for the award, with Uncharted 2 writer Amy Hennig taking the spoils.
