Wii MotionPlus Not Backwards Compatible

Nintendo says that it has no plans to make the Wii MotionPlus peripheral compatible with older non-MotionPlus titles.

The Wii Remote add-on, which allows for more comprehensive tracking of a player's movements, “is only for games that are designed to make use of its abilities”, a spokesperson told us.

“There are currently no plans to make it compatible with existing non-Wii Motion Plus enabled titles,” they added.

Nintendo said earlier this week that Wii MotionPlus will launch in early June.
