Nintendo will release the Wii MotionPlus peripheral in June and Wii Sports Resort in July.
The Wii MotionPlus accessory will hit US retailers on June 8 carrying an MSRP of $19.99, and will be available at European stores four days later.
Beach-themed Wii Sports Resort will launch in Europe on July 24 and in the States on July 26 for $49.99. The title will come packed with a single MotionPlus accessory.
A spokesperson for Nintendo’s UK arm told us that the European pricing of the products would be decided by retailers.
The first games to utilise the MotionPlus accessory will not be Nintendo titles, but Sega’s Virtua Tennis 2009 and EA duo Grand Slam Tennis and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10.
“Everyone who has played the Wii can remember the moment they first discovered its intuitive controls and realised that this was an incredible new way of experiencing video games,” said Laurent Fischer, Nintendo of Europe’s Marketing & PR MD. “Wii MotionPlus will create that feeling again, taking gameplay to a new level of realism.
“And with Wii Sports Resort, people will get the chance to immerse themselves in a hugely fun set of games that are designed to make the very best of this exciting new technology," he added.
It fits into the jacket and probably cannot be separated from it.
Here is a leaked photo of the Boxart:
Does this 'device' fit inside the Wii jacket? Is there any impact on battery life?
I'm not exactly overly tech savy, but I can't see an extra Accelerometer or 2 taking up THAT much more juice. Of course, I have no evidence of this, only supposition.
