Nintendo has revealed global lifetime sales figures for first party Wii and DS titles that shifted over a million copies between April and September.
Topping the list is Wii Sports with over 50 million copies sold, including those bundled with hardware.
Wii Play stands at 24.4 million lifetime sales, Wii Fit at 22.5 million and Mario Kart Wii at 18.4 million.
Wii Sports Resort has clocked up nearly seven million sales since launching in June, reports ONM.
New Super Mario Bros. for DS has reached 19.9 million sales, while Mario Kart DS stands at 16 million.
The bestselling DS game during the first half of Nintendo’s financial year was Pokémon Platinum with 2.63 million sales, taking its lifetime total to 6.39 million.
Pokémon HeartGold/SoulSilver has moved 2.27 million copies since releasing in September.
Its difficult to say how much of a success Wii Sports and to an extent Wii Play and Sports resort have been as games as they have all come bundle with stuff.
My point especially applies to Wii Sports as if you want a Wii you don't get a choice about getting sports or not.
Im not saying Sports, Play and Resort are bad games its just that announcing 50 Million sales of something thats advertised as a free part of the bundle doesn't really mean much
By far the most surprising hit of those mentioned is New Super Mario Bros on the DS - such a traditional and straightforward game, it beggars belief that it has sold so well. No wonder they're pushing a very similar game onto the Wii this month.
