2Wii U dev kits "underclocked"
A Wii U white paper published by Hit Detection - the consulting company founded by former Edge columnist N'Gai Croal - claims that Wii U developer hardware does not reflect the system's true power. "Developers have underclocked development kits, and worked hard to deliver titles running on hardware to demonstrate live at E3," it reads. "However, due to titles not looking much better than what is currently available on Xbox 360 and the PS3, Nintendo decided late in the game to not show those titles and focus instead on tech demos."

2What has Nintendo actually shown/anounced:
showed a controller with a screen in,
showed demo reels of games on other games consoles,
announced only 1 pad can be used at once,
announced no 1st party games,
announced very, very, very limited 3rd party support,
announced no intentions to offer a comprehensive online service -play, store, and other entertainment services,
announced no price or release date (just next year after april),
Ubisoft (their biggest 3rd party supporter) said after e3 that they are unsure of the hardawre specs and says they keep changing,
announced that you can't play on the toilet or another room (it cant streem very far from the console and maybe it has problems with walls?),
it sounds like loads of fun. can't wait!
I call bullshit on this. Underclocking the console has no benefits that i can see. Also why on earth would you decide to not show your best looking games in favour of some sub ps2 garbage? One thing is for sure, if the Wii U comes out and is massively underpowered, i will stay away. I don't care how many units it has sold, in my opinion the wii is rubbish.
