Nintendo has demonstrated the effects of an upcoming Wii U firmware update that will more than halve the consoles extraordinarily long loading times.
Loading the eShop from the Wii U menu, for example, currently takes around 16 seconds, and another 16 to quit back out. Even the system settings menu takes nearly as long to pop up.
As you can see from the pulse-raising video below, though, Wii U owners will no longer have to endure such a glacial pace when navigating the console or switching between games.
The update will be released next month, with a second one – also aimed at reducing loading times – due sometime in the Autumn, by which point Wii U owners will presumably have been able to change their settings twice as many times as they’ve managed to date.
