Speaking at a recent Microsoft game exhibition in Taipei, Microsoft Taiwan head Grace Chou announced that Final Fantasy XIII will be released for Xbox 360 in Taiwan.
According to Kotaku, Chou said that a decision hadn’t been made regarding which localized version will be launched in Asian territories.
The site also speculates that the news could mean that Japanese 360 owners may be able to import the game following its release in Asia.
Last month Microsoft announced that Final Fantasy XIII, which had previously been a PS3 exclusive title, would be released for the Xbox 360 in Europe and North America, but no mention was made of a release in Asian territories.
While Square Enix president Yoichi Wada said at the time that the company was “currently working hard” on the 360 version of FFXIII for Europe and North America, GameSpot reported on Monday that Square has yet to begin work porting the title to Microsoft’s console. With the 360 and PS3 versions due to launch simultaneously in Europe and North America, the PS3 version therefore looks likely to be held back until the 360 version is completed.
Playstation 3 has sold almost as poorly as the Xbox 360 in Japan.
PS3 has only outsold the Xbox 360 by a 4:1 ratio in Japan...and we all know that whenever you multiply anything by 0, you end up with 0. It actually hurts worse when you consider that there were months when the Xbox 360 actually outsold the Playstation 3 in Japan! For example, when Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey were released the Xbox 360 experience large sales increases.
There have been months where the PS3 actually did really well, and outsold the Xbox 360 by a 4:1 ratio in Japan, but still ended up being outsold worldwide by the Xbox 360, even though the two systems sold "approximately" 1:1 in both North America and Europe.
For example, there were 2000 Xbox 360 systems sold, and 8000 PS3 systems sold in Japan. That is 4:1 in favor of PS3, which Sony likes to talk about. But in reality, that is only a 6,000 system advantage for PS3, because the Japanes console market is so much smaller now than it used to be. In that same month, the Xbox 360 sold about 280,000 systems, while the PS3 was at about 260,000 systems. This means the two systems sold approximately 1:1 in terms of ratio. But because the North American market is so much bigger, the Xbox 360 still ended up ahead by 14,000 systems!
Xbox 360 has been outselling the Playstation 3 in Europe ever since the major price drop. It looks like Xbox 360 will be seeing a price drop to $199 for the Arcade system and $299 for the Pro system very soon. When that happens, there is an excellent chance that the Xbox 360 will outsell the Wii by a very big margin from that point on, since price plays such a large role in sales.

What Japanese 360 owners?
