Microsoft will offer access to popular social networking sites Facebook and Twitter via the Xbox 360 dashboard this autumn, the platform holder announced during its E3 press conference.

The company said in a press release: “With Twitter and Facebook on Xbox 360 the largest social networks combine seamlessly with the largest entertainment and gaming network, Xbox Live. If you already have Twitter and / or Facebook accounts integrating your friends list is so simple. You'll be posting "tweets" from your sofa via Twitter, and post screenshots of your greatest gaming achievements accessible to Facebook friends in no time - one of the first games to allow this will be a future version of Tiger Woods PGA Tour.

“Your social circle will soon be complete on Xbox 360, with news as it happens and the excitement of feeling genuinely connected to celebrities. Share your opinion on movies, games and music whenever you've the urge. Check out the latest photos and videos posted by friends. Xbox Live + Facebook + Twitter = everyone together.”

I'm pumped!!! I don't have to leave my living room anymore. No web browser though? The web browser is one of the few reasons why I still turn on my PS3.

That's just sick. I'm not on facebook nor do I twitter, but this seems like another step toward MS increasing their dominance in the digital arena (this along with their other announcements). It seems MS is forming the right partnerships with the right people at the right time.
