Just prior to November U.S. sales data from NPD Group, Microsoft said Thursday that Xbox 360 sales during the month were 836K, up from October's 371K.
Microsoft said the holiday sales registered "the biggest Black Friday and most successful November in its history."
Citing NPD data, the company said Xbox 360 outsold rival PS3 2:1 during the month.
Total Xbox 360 software sales were $408 million. Xbox 360 exclusive Gears of War 2 sold 1.6 million units during the month, ranking as the top piece of software for November in the U.S.
The Xbox 360 version of Call of Duty: World at War came in at number two, while Left 4 Dead for the console was number eight.
Fable II, launched in October, sold 184K, bringing life-to-date sales to 974K units in the U.S., according to NPD and Microsoft internal data.
Microsoft said Xbox 360's software attach rate stands at 8.1 games per console.
Yes... impressive.... NOW GIVE ME A 360 THAT DOESN'T DIE OF "HARDWARE FAILURE"!!!! (In case you didn't figure it out my 4th 360 got RROD last night-- and I take very good care of them... faulty piece of crap)
4th XBox?! Why the hell do you keep buying them?
Welcome to the club, John. You know, it's part of the Xbox 'experience'. It's nothing about luck though, it's inevitable. It's the Sword of Damocles etc.
There, just said it. Flame on.
Dude, sounds like you have some terrible luck I bought mine over two years ago, November 06 and it keeps going strong, no problems at all.
I figured that by now the RROD problem will be gone but I guess not quite yet, good thing MS did the extended warranty right?
that software attach rate...is going to have devs drooling.
Wow - that's pretty impressive, even without a deep recession going on. Glad to see L4D doing well!
