Sky Player on Xbox 360 is now available to all Xbox Live Gold subscribers in the UK and Ireland, Microsoft has confirmed.
The online TV service launched late last month but was quickly pulled due to technical problems. Microsoft subsequently blamed unprecedented demand for the service’s suspension and announced a revised, gradual rollout plan.
“As of Friday 6th November 2006, 100 per cent of the Xbox base can access Sky Player, and tens of thousands of new users are accessing the service daily,” the company said in a statement.
“The quality of the service remains of the utmost importance to both Sky and Xbox, and as such we will run further testing over the weekend and continue to monitor the service closely. Thank you for your patience and understanding.”
Sky Player on Xbox 360 allows Gold members to access a range of content to view live or on-demand, with the basic viewing package set at £15 per month for non-Sky TV subscribers.
“As of Friday 6th November 2006, 100 per cent of the Xbox base can access Sky Player, and tens of thousands of new users are accessing the service daily,” the company said in a statement.
