Weapon Of Choice maker Mommy's Best Games has released a co-op shooter called Game Type to highlight the difficulty of finding Indie Games on 360's new dashboard, featuring Hoodie Girl's battle against the "evil" MediaBall.
The co-op shooter, designed by Weapon Of Choice and Shoot 1Up creator Nathan Fouts, starts with digs at Microsoft's asinine choice of stock photos for its icons. First in its sights is the one featuring the green hooded top wearing girl that's used for the Game Type panel, which is the main way of finding the Marketplace's list of Indie Games.
"Check out Game Type on Xbox Live Indie Games. Find it in the Xbox 360 Games Marketplace. Or just do a search on it. Otherwise, you'll probably get lost in the dashboard, stuck watching advertisement for TV shows," reads the game's press release, underlining its aim to point out how hard to find Indie Games are.

"While the game's pretty silly, it pokes some good fun at Microsoft and the dashboard but also educates consumers to help find XBLIG," Fouts told us. The game also features references to some of XBLIG's best games, including Leave Home and Crossfire 2.
"I've been thrilled Microsoft created the special dashboard tile just for our game. It's such a terrible name which I created as a placeholder while starting the project," Fouts continues in the press release. "With the incongruous stock photo of a woman in a hoodie doing a jump-kick, and the forgettable Game Type title, it's good to know Microsoft was advertising our poorly-named game, and not trying to label the console's entire digital game storefront. Otherwise, it'd be a horrible match that would simply make no sense and generally lead fewer gamers to find the store and browse on their own terms."
Enemies include crabs, SUVs and angry cats, and scores are recorded on online boards. Trigger Kick Beams for extra firepower, and the longer you survive, the faster the game plays. Like all Indie Games, it only had to pass peer review to appear on the Marketplace.

1I'd buy this, but alas I can't find it in the menu whilst Kinect keeps giving me results for Indie Gays, and I don't really want another Bloc Party record.
