Yoshi stars in a new title from the development team behind Kirby’s Epic Yarn for release on Wii U, Nintendo has revealed.

The game was shown off as part of a series of announcements in today’s Nintendo Direct. Satoru Iwata said that Takashi Tezuka, director of Yoshi’s Island and Yoshi’s Story, is overseeing the project and that it would be the first new Yoshi game on a home console since Yoshi’s Story in 1998.

Elsewhere in Nintendo Direct today, the Japanese platform holder confirmed that it would be bringing Virtual Console games to Wii U, showing off two new Mario titles at E3 this year and that a duo of Zelda titles are in development for Wii U.
