Zynga has signed an agreement to acquire social game developer Serious Business, the firm behind Facebook titles including Friends For Sale, Rock Legends and Happy Hour.
“Serious Business will bring many of the innovations they have developed, to games played by Zynga’s 60 million daily active users,” Zynga said in a statement.
As part of the agreement, employees of Serious Business will join Zynga at the company’s headquarters in San Francisco.
"We’re very excited to gain an experienced team that is committed to building social games," said Vish Makhijani, chief operating officer at Zynga. “We are impressed with Serious Business’ entrepreneurial attitude, speed, and innovation in developing social games and welcome them to our team.”
Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
The news comes just a week after Zynga confirmed that it had established a new development studio based in Marina Del Rey, Los Angeles.
