Zynga Launches RewardVille Loyalty Scheme
Facebook gaming firm launches website offering virtual currency for in-game item purchases.
Social gaming giant Zynga has launched a reward programme, RewardVille, that gives players free in-game items.
While Zynga has yet to make an official announcement about the scheme, a website has now gone live inviting users to sign in with their Zynga login details.
An FAQ entry that detailed the scheme has since been deleted, but blogger MW Lootlady had the presence of mind to take screenshots of Zynga’s explanation of how the programme works.
“Each time you play a participating Zynga game, you’ll earn Zynga Points (zPoints) and increase your Zynga level (zLevel),” it explains. “At every zLevel, you’ll earn Zynga coins (zCoins) to use on free, exclusive in-game items in RewardVille.”
By “participating games” Zynga means FarmVille, FrontierVille, Mafia Wars, Treasure Isle and Zynga Poker. The recently-released CityVille, which broke all kinds of records and is now Zynga’s biggest game on Facebook, is not included in the scheme.
UPDATE: Zynga has just issued a statement. "As a company focused on innovation we’re constantly testing new products and features," it reads. "When experimenting with new products we take the feedback we receive and apply it to deliver the best possible user experience. We look forward to hearing how our users like RewardVille."
