Hmmm... I think the Dreamcast, apart from Sony's marketing machine, was also plagued by what you could simply call bad luck. The machine was launched a lot earlier than the PS2 but well... it just didn't do so well - and although the PS2 was actually not as powerful as the Dreamcast, Sony was already more popular. The PS3 however is technically (so "on paper") more powerful than the 360, yet... we haven't seen much proof of that (apart from the excellent engine/lighting in Little Big Planet, for instance). So right now, Microsoft is taking the opportunity to show that its machine can compete without problems - and with its lower price tag, has Sony by the balls. Even while the 360 has quite a few flaws (not just the RROD) and its cheaper versions do not feature all the options Microsoft is advertising, it's definitely time for Sony to move and well... I think they can only do that by actually doing more of what they have promised.
Apart from everything else you claim/say/post, you honestly believe that Microsoft is an honest company that tells its consumers the truth about their product(s)? Wow.
I fully agree Sony has a reputation for "bending" the truth and creating all sorts of hype. However, neither Microsoft nor Nintendo are innocent when it comes to that. In this particular case, I'm quite sure Microsoft had some excellent sales on Black Friday - which is great for them... but does your fanboyism ever stop?
Although I agree Mirror's Edge could have received a higher score, the glitches in Fallout 3 are exaggerated... it seems certain reviews tend to emphasize on them in great detail while in reality, they aren't as obvious.
Uhmm... Killzone 2 is the sequel to Killzone 1 and will be released on the PS3 in 2009.
This Resistance sequel definitely seems like a game that's interesting for fans of the genre though - while games like Gears of War 2 and Dead Space seem like they're appealing to gamers in general.
In my opinion though, the other games you mention are good - but do not appeal beyond their genre, like Resistance and its sequel.
Edge's reviews have always been able to shine a different light on a particular game and while this opinion might differ from other reviews, it certainly creates perspective. It still looks like their reviews are not paid/PR-influenced opinions and by putting them online this way, with people actually being capable of commenting on them, players can look at both the article and its replies and get some potential insight. This might help them decide between purchasing a title or leaving it alone.
However, a 6 is definitely not very high comparing them to other recently reviewed games with better scores despite their lower appeal. But then again, I haven't agreed on every Edge score ever since the first Halo got a 10.
Who do you believe deserves real credit for their talent and dedication? Edge is taking nominations for our annual Edge Heroes - the Top 25 Game Industry People of the Year Awards.
