I don't like his gaming vision at all. Should the videogames really rely SO HARD on other arts such as cinema as this man proposes? Videogaming is about interacting with virtual elements in order to achieve something while being abstracted in the process. The problem is that some people think, as this man does, that this abstraction has to come with an identification between the charachter and the player as if it were a movie, where the main goal is to make people empathize with the characters. In videogaming the abstraction comes directly from the way you have to solve the different situations you are exposed to, repeating patterns and finally being able to achieve your goals mechanically and almost unconsciously. I agree that it's not bad to add a good atmosphere sorrounding a game and a justification or plot to make things interesting and push that abstaction feeling BUT to let those external aspects of videogaming command your experience inherently means that you are not making a videogame anymore but something different.
What this man proposes is to go a step beyond that line between videogaming and movies, and that new terrain is not videogaming territory. Good luck there Mr Cage, but sorry to disagree with you. Those are not games; those are interactive films.
Awesome news, Valve knows how it works. I can't think about anything more to say because in fact, I'm not surprised at all. These guys are far ahead of the rest and things like this confirm it day after day.
And do you think that Gears 2 takes itself so much seriously? Gears 2 is thought to be pure B Action movie, not to mention that the swearing, acting and plot are not the only reasons why EDGE gives Killzone 2 a 7. However, I have to admit that I disagree too with that Gears 2 9/10 for other aspects, but you can't pretend to agree allways with what they say.
Look at Killzone 2 multiplayer options and then chek again Halo 3's multiplayer ones and dare to say that Halo 3 and the way it supports community was not a step forward in console videogaming. That deserves a 10 for EDGE, like it or not. Same thing about Little Big Planet. Now tell me in which aspect Killzone is a step forward to give it a 10.
If games and movies don't develop some mutual respect, all we can expect are films that are really bad action games and games that are really bad films, says Steven Poole.

This attempt to make your words credible is so bad that is even funny.
