I am a freelance journalist based in Sydney, Australia. Currently I write for a number of Australian games publications including the Official Xbox Magazine, Official PlayStation Magazine, PC PowerPlay and Hyper. I also contribute the gaming pages to kids magazine Disney Adventures. Previous jobs have included two stints in public relations for gaming publishers and, before that, I was editor of PC PowerPlay. In all, I've been writing about games for about 15 years.

E3 was different this year. The July timing meant there was little in the way of new announcements and the invite-only format kept the spectacle at bay. But the more intimate environment allowed for more time with each game, more chances to speak with developers, and generally a more valuable experience for the media.

Wow, just two games on the entire list are exclusive to the most popular console (Skate It and Wii Sports Resort). Further, all but one of the Wii games appear only in the Sports and Casual categories. Has the disconnect between specialist gaming press and average gaming consumer ever been quite so apparent?
