Yesterday Michael Pachter (Wedbush Morgan analyst), Seamus Blackley (Head of Games Department, CAA), and Dan Hsu (Former EIC, EGM) had a little chat at Gametrailers about the future of video game consoles. The bottom line: the next five years might be the end of game consoles as we know them.
And what did he see?
just released Song Summoner: The Unsung Heroes on the iPod for $5... I was wondering if Nintendo would take the "necessary steps" with the DS and DLC. It's beyond me: the big N loses money constantly with "exclusive" releases like the Korg DS-10 which has been pirated in two days and downloaded by thousands already (there is a post about that and the DS piracy / homebrew scene at CDM).

To be perfectly honest both "current gen" systems are on the way down. Hell, even the mighty N is struggling (apart from the DSi). Maybe I just burned out but there aren't many AAA games I'm vaguely interested in, except the next Fumito Ueda title and Dead Rising 2 (I miss the first one soo much, even if it wasn't that good). Hell, as the last couple of AAAs were mediocre (KZ2) or pure shit (Resi 5), I won't hold my breath for DR2.
I'll cave in, trying to catch up on some old PS2 and DS titles. Maybe do some emulation. Now I'm immune to the likes of Prototype, Infamous, and MAG. Even to God of War III.
"What I have played from the mp so far has been awesome..."
Well, it's too late for me. I played some matches with the bots and replayed some levels of the campaign but I felt too tired to move on. All the time I thought about all the efforts they put into the graphics... and the lack of everything inthe game department. At least shooting was fun and rewarding in KZ2, but that's not enough for me anymore. It missed something, I don't know what.
Long story short, just sold the damn game and bought SFIV, which is amazing. I can't see myself selling that game anytime soon, and working busily on my supers and ultras all week.^^
Killzone 2 was amazing in one point: it made me to dust off the good old Half-Life 2 again.
Finished the fight yesterday, and had a jolly good time with the game. Not the second coming, of course, but a well-polished thrill ride with a semi-interesting story and shallow characters. A strong seven, really, or a weak eight. The MP is another thing, as the servers are still down -- at least for me (might try that as well later). The bot matches are pretty fun, apart from the fact that on normal (trooper) level they throw grenades on me every time (it's worse than the SP campaign in CoD 4).
All in all, KZ2 is a solid title, with tons of gameplay. Try to beat yourself on the campaign levels in veteran, or just play matches with bots / real opponents. For me it doesn't look like a system seller; oranges and apples, but LBP was better in that regard.
"I think Microsoft is messing up"
Wow Kim, your first (half) reasonable sentence ever.
Seconded. "Best blank CD we ever made"??
Edge, you have no credibility at all, it's OFFICIAL now.
Professionalism and journalistic integrity my arse.
