You can factor out all of the fanboy business and boil it down to this:
Edge gave Haze and Resistance 2 the same score. So, if their 10-point scale is to mean anything, then we should believe that these two games are broadly of the same quality. Perhaps not if the games were in very different genres - but they are in the same genre.
I am 80% of the way through R2 and have finished Haze, and it is in no way difficult to see that R2 is considerably better than Haze by any objective measure.
If I asked 100 people with even a rudimentary knowledge of videogames to play them both and tell me which was better, what do you think the response would be? It seems obvious to me that a large majority would go for R2.
If this is clear to all and sundry then why not Edge? Do they know something we don't? I doubt it. Even if there is some secret knowledge that Edge possesses, which clearly indicates that Haze is of the same quality as R2, then if it is too subtle for the rest of us who are they serving?
This is a lazy, ill-conceived review, that seems to have been dashed off by someone in a foul mood.
Edge can do better.
