Does anyone know where to watch the conferences live online?

That's a lot of final fantasies.

Fair enough, but the whole idea of this particular list was to forget about "what a game achieved when it came out" to only think about what it's worth today. And I'm surprised that Edge's choice of Mario64 as the '2nd best game to pick up today if you have never played a videogame' by saying how much it changed things back when it was made. If you were to discover Mario64 and Sunshine together, I'd be surprised if you went for Mario64 up against the comfort and beauty of Sunshine (Mario 64's castle is perhaps where it scores most points).
In the same line, if I discovered the whole history of video gaming today, I'm not sure Super Mario World would rise up to 6th. Not sure about Pokemon Yellow ahead of so many outstanding pieces either.

On the other hand, I approve a certain amount of this list despite the fact it perhaps doesn't go far enough down the road it set out for itself. But is that really something manageable anyway? (Especially for someone who has obviously played all these games in sequence and evolved alongside them)

I'd sign for having those two hundred as the covers for issues 201-400.
Shenmue 2 cover is obviously a personal favourite, but I am quite looking forward to rooting around for the Ikaruga, Pilotwings64, Skate or Die, Okami ones... The GoldenEye one is quite brilliant as well, haha.

Actually not that keen about the subscribers' cover, though I can appreciate the initiative.

    Interesting article.
I guess the medium is bound to evolve towards less entertainment-value based standards, for the better as far as I'm concerned. With the progress in technology, I imagine it would become cheaper to produce a game that would be technically decent and comfortable, yet conceptually challenging and which could afford to aim at more of a niche market.
