Useful apps? How about PI83. A fairly decent graphing calculator app.

pUniverse, point your iPhone at the sky at night and it will show you the stars that you your iPhone is facing and any constaltion that they may be in, among other things.

iWrecked, if you're ever in a car accident it gives you a place to put all the information that you're going to have to take down. You can take pictures of the damage and keep them in the app. It records your gps position so you have the street and what not. Sure each seperate function can be done on most other smart phones but the speed and convience is key. It came in handy when this guy hit my car.

RK_free is an app that records where you run on google maps and when you're done running it tells you how fast you ran at differnt points during your run. I run a lot so I use this all the time. It gives me feedback and helps me set goals.

I forget the name of the app, but being able to take a picture of a book cover and then read reviews about it.

I know Shazam, the free application that tells you the name of songs is now avaiable on other phones but Midomi is only on the iPhone and is much better than Shazam. (Midomi is a lot better than it used to be)

Those are just off the top of my head and as far as I know you can only do those things on an iPhone. There are lots of fun "pointless" apps that can make your voice sound like T-pain and what not. And even more apps that are only for iPhone that do something similer to apps on other phones but do it better. You have to face the fact that developers flock to the large instal base.

I also don't think that apple is overstating the games aspect of the device. I haven't touched my psp since I got my iPhone to be honest. But yes, there are a lot of crappy apps that I download and delete right away but that only happens when the app is free and has a low rating.

Wooo! I have to say that I'm excited to see how this turns out. I just bought an iPhone 3gs that I'm typing this from and I love it. I'm assuming this PSP phone will offer data plans. I can't imagine going back to a normal phone.
