As an actor in SoCal, I know the types of submissions the film industry will claim, to get their piece of the pie. California has a allotment set aside, that is 10 times that amount, to be used strictly for films, and this year's budget only has $400K left. The film industry employs many hundreds of people on a film, both directly and indirectly, in many facets of business (who provide both services and products). Their lobbying for a large sum of that money is inevitable (and good for the economy). I say "Good luck!" to the already established (and bankable) software companies, who already have their established personnel (and don't seek the many businesses that a film production does) in getting the funds they seek in this "Tax Break". If, on the other hand, there was a similar benefit solely for the game studios, that would be something to rejoice about.
I bought my Xbox 360 on the first day of release. Yeah, I did get a RROD about 18 months ago, but just once and the turn-around was only 10 days for me, here in San Diego (I played my Xbox and PS2 while it was missing). Since it was bought with that huge 20-gig (snicker) hard drive, I've been attempting to reserve space for only the best DLC. I would love for the Elite to drop in price. I have a 72" 1080P HDTV, so the addition of an HDMI port would also be a worthy upgrade for me. I'm currently wondering if even the 120-gig Hard drive is actually big enough. i have a 120-gig Ipod, and it's already full of music (no videos or extra games, just 30,486 songs).
I like the point that StealthBadger makes about the dual price drop not affecting the competition that much. I agree, too.;An Elite vs. PS3 with equal price drops would not sway the buyer's mind. Usually, at this price point, buyers come into a store with preset desires about what console they want to spend money on.
I do love my current 360, but wouldn't mind a discount on an upgrade.

I'm sure the Natal, unlike many other add-ons for many of the consoles in my past, Wii be very successful, and will be supplied by a rich assortment of 3rd party games. "They're not reinventing the wheel(there is no wheel)". So if this is a joke, not even Sony is laughing. Corp.'s like EA and Ubisoft, as well as gaming business celebs are also excited about this. I can hardly waait for them to work the bugs out of the software and increase the response time to gaming speed.
(And then send Obama a free sample and see what he says about gaming vs. exercise)
If games and movies don't develop some mutual respect, all we can expect are films that are really bad action games and games that are really bad films, says Steven Poole.

The God's are in synergistic command! EA and Apple Ipod. Yikes!
