The weird part here is not the score. I could care less about that. The weird part is the review is fairly devoid of substance. It seems more like an essay on numbers than a game review. I'm not sure if the reviewer just decided that they didn't like the game before playing it, but focusing on the number of [insert aspect of game], seems like a poor way to review the game. Graphics? Sound? Multiplayer? It seems more like prose practice then a review.
I also have to agree with kissgz, I've been gaming my whole life since atari and Valkyria Chronicles was one of the better games I've played in a good long while. It was original, deep, and satisfying. Perhaps EDGE needs better reviewers. I doubt highly that any mandate has been handed down from the editors as far as a system preference for ratings.
I've been enjoying Left 4 Dead, and it's pretty cool. But as far as depth of play it's a kiddie pool.

Sometimes it's the serious sites that make you laugh hardest.
