Oh come on... you have listed a bunch of RPGs (and then red alert which im sure did not have missions running into the 100's). At least compare like for like, perhaps you want to throw lemmings at them too? thats got plenty of levels.
I think the quality of the first 30 missions will be very important... if it feels that the terran single player has been stretched to make 3 separate games seem worthwhile it may put some people off... then again we know that a lot of die hard SC fans will buy all 3 regardless of quality.
If however the story and game play is epic enough to warrant 90 missions then i see no problem with this release... people didnt go to watch the fellowship of the ring and feel cheated that they were only getting a 3rd of the story.
I also wonder how long there will be between each release in order to keep people interested in the sotry
We had to play through each race in order in SC, so as long as the pacing of story is right I will have no issue with it... a pre planned trilogy can allow for a good story in books and films... will be interested to see where it goes with SC.
Not too sure why you have labelled DLC for expanding Gameplay in such a negative way... It is additional content made after the game was released, referring to the developers cut of the DLC sales as a kickback makes it seem like something dodgy is going on. Its only expansions in the same way that people have bought expansions for games in the past... just via the internet... the developer getting paid for their extra development seems fine to me.
MS have paid companies to make this content exclusive in a similar way as is done with general game exclusives. The DLC exclusives is likely to help game sales on the 360 over those on the PS3 as fans will want the expansion packs.
As for DLC being a way to nickel-and-dime gamers... you still get the game when you buy the game, if you dont want additional stuff dont buy it, in the same way as you wouldnt have bought expansions for other games in the past.
I utterly agree on the HDD issue, being able to use a usb external drive for save data and downloaded data would be in credibly handy.
People are referring to this as the way the wii should have been when it launched... but would that really have worked? and is the wii motion plus actually a great idea?
Surely a good amount of the wii's success is the pick up and play ability of the controller, with a very small learning curve. If when playing wii tennis youd actually have to have hit the ball with the pad angled correctly, instead of just swining at the right time, would it have has the same appeal to the masses?
Im sure wii motion plus will make for some interesting stuff, swordplay being a good example... but the wii as it is appeals to a lot of people, and im not sure motion plus will appeal to all of them. Releasing this now that they have a massive player base was probably a better idea.
With both games I think it is a sign of the pressure being applied from above to ship by a certain date... which is somewhat worrying. If they hadnt been such high profile titles you would expect them to be held back until all the features were ready surely...
Tomb Raider Underworld producer Eric Lindstrom talks about Lara Croft’s essential personality traits, and why they’ve helped her survive all these years.

That appears to be correct...
