Hmm cant get my head around this review. The first page and the closing paragraph are clearly at odds with each other. The reviewer sets out camp as a wise sage of combat in entertainment, laying out thoughts on the topic in general so the viewer knows we have a voice of experience delivering an opinion. Once that is delivered, the criticism bites and it bites deep into the product at hand. The words are a flashback to Edge of old, and suggest a score of old to match; a 7 or 8 at best. Then on the second page, caution is throws to the wind, happy pills are consumed and peer pressure comes to into play and we have a fabulous product worthy of a 9.
As I said earlier 'hmm'.
Well I would like to congratulate Epic for this move. Design software in the 3D environment has outstripped inflation by hundreds if not thousands of percent over the past few years, and I truly hope this move sends a message to other 3D content software developers.
am I alone in thinking this is the worse case of wheel re-invention in the history of the modern age? You own an xbox 360, which sits on top of a sky box. The sky box can find then go onto record any program up to 1 week in advance, or an entire series, literally in under 10 seconds. Nothing online even comes close to matching it's incredible ability to get right to where you want to be, right when you want to. It has anything up to 360gig of storage space too. And MS thinks we would rather funnel it all through the noisy and under powered (on the storage front) xbox instead? Why? More to the point, who are the lemmings overwhelming the service? And do they know the compressed download into said xbox will never match the skybox for quality of picture?
"For anyone that can actually drive, these racing sims (Forza/GT) are fuck all like real driving, they don't even come close. Anyone who says otherwise clearly doesn't/can't drive a car."
Eh? 'don't even come close'. I have been driving for 25 years, everything from a mini to a 911 turbo. The games still dont relay the shaking you get from mid engine cars at high speed, but 'not even close'? Sorry bud, but this is pretty good in my book. I can see my car in this game, it sounds like my car, it banks on the corners like my car. It loses its steering grip at the same speed as my car. I say it does come close.
good post, they can argue with testicles, but hard facts will need some explaining. I am not a Sony fan, can't stand them, but what is it with Halo reviews? I have yet to meet a gamer who rates any Halo game above 8.5.
If games and movies don't develop some mutual respect, all we can expect are films that are really bad action games and games that are really bad films, says Steven Poole.
