I would be happy with a download only/Hardisk PS3 if the price was right of course. PSN games have been pretty good to me. I've rented a few Blu-rays but no way am I replacing my DVD collection, which is still growing.
If Nintendo were a western company, there probably would never have been 'childish' graphics.
Think about that for a second. The Japanese people developing these games are self confessed big kids, living in a different culture to us in a pacifist country. I for one wouldn't want Nintendo to change.
Perhaps for westerners who don't get the Japanese, they could offer a patch that comes with their cute games, to change games like Mario Galaxy to have lifelike colours? and lifelike clothes on the character? Lifelike planets?
Bubble is certainly the wrong word to use. Difficult period? Nintendo are the only one of the big three who set out to make profit on the console, which they are still doing, I'm sure the shareholders are pleased they invested where they did.
Let me also point to Edge's article 'The 100 Best Games To Play Today' where 7 of the top 10 are playable on the Wii. Would anyone in their right mind, really steer someone currently alien to gaming towards another console?
Chris Dahlen meets the director of interactive fiction documentary Get Lamp and remembers how rich a world that only costs the time it takes to write it can be.
