I think it's easy to get disenfranchised by this generation of games but there certainly has been some quality here. Looking back at the last generation I think it was a generation of boundless expansion; new graphics and sound technology allowed developers to do completely new things and expand games into genres and areas never before possible. Gaming itself was also legitimized in great part last generation. I think we are in a generation of momentum building now. We are just seeing the trends of last gen playing out and trying to find a new direction, and when you look at some of the things that are being brought to light like dlc, online gaming (which was mentioned) new interface ideas and a switch to an entirely different video format (hd is a big thing), and with the continued increase in graphics and audio quality we are really just settling in to a world of gaming that we can honestly not even predict. With the budgets for these new AAA games requiring millions of dollars can you honestly blame developers for playing it safe or having a hard time finding room for anything but the games they have put out? While it seems like the same old gaming it really is something unprecedented and from a business standpoint it is pioneering. This is nothing that has been done before, give it time before you damn it. Also, go play ratchet: crack in time.
First off, you're splitting hairs, ID is developing Rage and EA is publishing it. You may not realize that but you're pretty oblivious if you don't. Being oblivious to that also does make you sound stupid and not informed. Do not go tearing people down for spelling and grammar when you use "sentences" like "First of EA don't make Rage, it is ID software." First of I don't know no what you talking about you dumb. You understand now?
Willits said no content would be removed, he did not say it wouldn't look worse because of compression. Willits also is the lead designer, not a technical lead, whereas Carmack, who has a long history of writing id engines almost entirely by himself, said that the graphics would suffer. Conjectures that the Shack makes aren't official statements. You're definitely stupid if you can't read between the lines.
"Carmack said that the uncompressed build of Rage encompasses a terrabyte of data"
Does that sounds like it will fit on 2 dvd9s? Even putting the levels together into just two levels isn't exactly going to make a terrabyte of data into 15 gigs of data. Also, Carmack is the one who historically doesn't self-censor, while Willits is more of a pr man.
You obviously don't know what you're talking about, and as such maybe you should just keep your mouth shut.
If games and movies don't develop some mutual respect, all we can expect are films that are really bad action games and games that are really bad films, says Steven Poole.

Uncharted uses the Uncharted engine, not UE3.
All I know is I'm definitely not getting gta IV.
so, it's perfect because you "can't" break it? No one has ever lost a dongle before, that's a fact.
