I find the price change justified. Pound is downrated toward Euro lately, when the Wii's price was announced GBP was more than 1,5 euros and now it's around 1,1. As Nintendo of Europe is based in the EU (Germany) i would expect that they are paid in Euros.
I believe they just did what was necessary to maintain their profitability at the same levels.
I think the original story has a misunderstanding. I believe Mrs. Dunaway is disclosing Wii Play and Wii Remote Controllers sales data for US. So 23m Wiimotes in total could be interpreted as a social gaming hub when compared with the US Wii HW sales. If the sales data were to be global then the platform would not even have 1 Wii to 2 Wiimotes ratio. I would reccomend that the story gets a doublecheck.
If games and movies don't develop some mutual respect, all we can expect are films that are really bad action games and games that are really bad films, says Steven Poole.
